Sometimes people are just so amazed whenever a child or a young person accomplishes something amazing. While it may be amazing, there is a reason that this young person was able to achieve this wonderful feat. It stands to reason that they may not have the stress and the worries that an older person has to deal with in life. They may just be focused on this one thing in their life, and that is all there is for them. People often look at me crazy when I say something like, “Of course he can dance. He doesn’t have any bills to pay!!”
While it is harder for an adult to achieve their goals and dreams, it can still be done. First of all, you just have to know in your heart that you really want to make it happen. You might have lots of things you want to do and accomplish, so you will have to prioritize and figure out which one thing you want to do first, because this one thing is going to have to be your main focus in life until you get to where you dreamed you would be with it. Next, you have to make it your passion. You have to live this goal. Don’t just go out and buy a guitar and then shove it in a corner. Dedicate yourself to learning how to play it, no matter how long it takes.
Some people are more gifted, or more talented. If you find that is not the case for you, then you will just have to work a little harder, but don’t give up! You can learn whatever you set out to learn. You just have to stick to it! Doing things the way you’ve been doing them up until now have not worked. It is time for a change, and the main thing to change is your focus.
No matter what the goal is – be it losing weight, learning a skill, playing an instrument, even quitting smoking – you can do this. But, only if you really want to. Otherwise, you might as well not even bother.
You are going to have to attack it with child-like enthusiasm. That is how the young people who are so amazing do it. Remember to be patient with yourself. Remember to take this seriously. Get your kids or friends to help, by showing them that you are not going to be distracted.
Well, ok, you are not going to be able to be perfect at everything. After you’ve accomplished your number one goal, you can go ahead and tackle more, but these additional projects will probably be secondary goals. But then, again, they may not. You will have a whole new outlook on yourself, once you’ve proven to yourself that you can do what you set out to do.
