Traveling? Stop Packing Unnecessary Shit.

Standard

I travel internationally a lot, so I had to learn how to come up with a packing plan in order to make sure I got the most out of the weight allowance without having to pay any extra in baggage fees.

It seems like I always packed a lot of crap I didn’t need, and a lot of shit I never wore. One thing I learned – if you have clothes that you’ve never worn, don’t think you are suddenly going to have the urge to wear those when you are on vacation. Whatever you do, don’t pack them! Think in terms of putting 5 decent outfits together and make sure you try them on and look at yourself in the mirror to make sure they look good. Certain shoes don’t look good with certain pants or they just don’t match to the look you are going for. Don’t wait until you get there to realize that it doesn’t work. If you are going to be somewhere for longer than 5 days, don’t worry about packing more. You are on vacation, so you will probably see a lot of stuff that you have to have and you don’t need a lack of space in your suitcase. If you do happen to run out of clothes, then just wash the ones you brought.

If you think you might go swimming, then you can pack a bathing suit. If you have an event planned during that time, bring your planned attire for that event, too.

Just keep in mind, the more space you have when you go, the more souvenirs and clothes you can buy to bring back!

Success Can Be So Simple

Standard

When someone becomes famous and successful for doing something that is pretty much a common, everyday thing, we all scratch our heads and wonder why. Why did this person become a millionaire for some simple everyday thing that they just happened to make note of? How is this even a ‘thing’? I could have done that!!!

Why, yes. You could have. So, why didn’t you?

Jerry Seinfeld made a success of “a show about nothing”. Why? Because this was a show about everything. Every stupid little circumstance that can happen in everyday life.

Recently, I saw a video going around on Facebook that showed how some people walked into a subway train and saw lots of graffiti. One guy decided to start cleaning it up, and then suddenly, everyone pitched in. Why did it take that one person to think of it? Well, actually, it may have crossed everyone’s mind, but it always takes that one person to get everyone motivated.

I was sitting in the doctor’s office when I saw a row of these pictures:

I thought, “Jeez! I could so easily have done this. People spend so much money on going to art schools, and yet, this is all they want? This is what people are paying good money for?

So, how have some people become successful by doing everyday things?

One way to be successful is to do your research and read what other people are talking about. There are people are making money simply from getting people like you to read about stuff that they already know. Stuff like everyday occurrences. Why? Because we can all relate to it. Look at bloggers who are getting rich just by making videos of their daily routine of putting on their make-up!

You need to step outside of the ‘reading about it’ box eventually and come up with your own ideas. You are making those people rich by reading what they write,  or watching their videos, whether what they are saying or doing is right or not. They can fill your head with how they became rich and what worked for them, when all along, what worked for them was to come up with a good storyline, then get everyone to agree with and believe in it.
