Don’t Just Believe It – Live It!

Standard

Sure it is tough being in a rut day after day.  You go devotedly to the same nothing job, and the money never increases, so there’s no way out. It’s a safe place, though, because you know what you’re going to bring home every payday and you’ve got your bills all figured out. You’re in a somewhat safe place as long as everything’s covered.

But, come on! You know you had dreams! You know that one day you thought you were going to be famous. You still look in the mirror every day and see a hint of the young person who once had ambition.

You might be the best damn cashier in the whole store, heck, even the whole company. But who the hell ever got famous for being a good cashier? Who ever got famous for flipping a burger really good?

If there was something that you enjoyed in your personal life and were really good at, then go back to it. Make it your passion. Find the time! Take the time! It’s so worth it.

Wouldn’t you rather be rich and famous from a painting that you drew, rather than the one billionth customer you rang up?

You have to find your opportunity and take it. You are living your life. You have to take charge.

Why Can’t We Just Be Human?

Standard

It’s amazing how the world gives us everything we need. Vitamins in fruit, plants that heal, air to breathe, etc. We just have to figure out how to utilize it. Yet, our culture is so busy looking for ways to stop life from happening, that we are holding ourselves back without even realizing it.

Think about it: Why is it so easy for animals to figure out what they need? How do they understand the ‘laws’ of their world and automatically know how to find food, reproduce and how to care for their young?

12068927_10207354469007543_8723815248432365032_oBirds, for example, have very small brains. Yet they ‘know’ things. They know where to live and build nests. They know how to regurgitate food and feed their young. They recognize people.

Think about ants. Look at their colonies. Look how they are able to carry so much food away. How do they all come up with the whole ‘queen’ thing and understand how it works?

These are just examples of nature. So, why can’t humans be natural?

First of all – humans have to be PC (politically correct). Everything is offensive, so you have to watch what you say or do.

Also – watch your back. If you do something you shouldn’t be doing and it offended no one – even something as minor as smoking a joint – someone will have to report you because they have nothing better to do and they saw you commit a crime. By the way – marijuana is a plant which makes ill people feel better. Yet, humans have to come up with laws about it. It’s a freakin’ plant!!

Yes, there are crimes committed. Yes, there are robberies and murders. This sounds harsh, but why not let the parties affected handle the perpetrator? I am quite sure that the family of a young child who has been raped will justly deal with the offender. Isn’t that a harsher sentence than one where the taxpayer pays for a jail cell and meals for this waste of space? Isn’t it more justified? Maybe that would be a better answer to stopping this type of behavior.

Shouldn’t people be allowed to love who they want, whether that person is of the same sex or not? If another person thinks that they need two wives or two husbands, and everyone involved is okay with it, then why should it be of any concern to anyone else?

If someone says things that you don’t like, don’t listen to them. They are entitled to their opinions. If someone believes in a different God than yours, or in no God at all, let them! It’s their choice. If it makes them a better person for believing in a power greater than themselves, or for not believing in it, isn’t that a good thing? If you have to resort to violence to prove that your God or belief is better, are you being ‘Godly’? And what does that say about your religion or lack thereof?

Bottom line – why can’t humans live by the laws of nature, without creating laws of human ignorance?

You Are Who You’re With

Standard

I am sure that you were told by your parents or other adults when you were younger that you had to stay away from certain people because they were bad influences. Well, I’ve come to find out that that is true, actually. I just wish that I had known then what I know now. However, no amount of what my parents did to try to keep me away from certain friends or relationships didn’t work. In fact, it became more intriguing and made me want to do just the opposite.

For the most part, I hung around with a decent crowd. But then I met that one friend who liked to shoplift – and then taught me how to do it. And it was fun. Fortunately for me, I was too worried about the consequences of being caught to do it for very long, and made up my own mind to stay away from that person.

Then came the romantic relationships. I tried my best to take interests in the habits of my men-friends. It didn’t always work out. For instance: I gave up meat because my first husband was a vegetarian. That only caused me to become fat because I ate a shitload of pasta. There are lots of small things, too, like trying to like a certain type of music that they listen to; dealing with certain friends of theirs that you really don’t like; watching sports that don’t interest you. On the other hand, you do expand your horizons and learn new things. Sometimes you might even find you enjoy these new things.

340660_2996171910912_149108097_oMy second husband, who I’m currently married to, is a biker. It is a whole new world that has opened up for me. We travel and go to lots of parties, which I can say is something that I have been able to take an interest in. Except for all the late nights – they seem to take their toll on me. After all, I’m no spring chicken anymore, you know.

I’d like to think that at some point I’ve influenced some people to be like me. I am aware that a lot of my interests are mine alone, and that not everyone shares in my choice of music. But I can be pretty fun to be around, if I do say so myself. My diversity and love of life would be something that I would like to bring to and leave behind in every relationship that I have.

Even Healthy People Die

Standard

You hear about all of the healthy things you should be doing, like eating right and exercising. That is all fine and good, but have you ever heard of a person who has lived forever? Of course not! There is no such thing. And there probably never will be.

True, doing “healthy things” may prolong your life. On the other hand, it may not. There are plenty of instances of people who ate right and exercised every day, and still died young.

I’m not saying that living healthy is wrong. What I am saying is that you should live your life in the way that makes you happy.

enjoyIf you enjoy fine dining or eating snack foods, why should you deprive yourself of them? If you don’t like how you look afterward, you can do something about that, too. However, you may want to consider how important that is to you. Will it make you happy to go without? Will it make you happy to not be able to hang out with your friends, or deprive yourself of eating and drinking  and enjoying life while you are hanging out with them? Think about people who love you for who you are. Sure, they will love you 20 pounds lighter, but you may become a grouch as you deprive yourself and work towards that goal.

It is time to reevaluate what is important to us, and not put so much importance on how others think we should be living. Fat or skinny, healthy or unhealthy, no one comes out of this alive. As cliche as it sounds: It is not so much important as to how or when you die, rather how you live and enjoy your life that matters.
